This plan is the outcome on a consultation day held on 28th April 2008, attended by approximately 40 people including community members, local government officers and elected members, members of parliament, government agency representatives and non-government organisations.

 

 

After this priority setting exercise, the strategic plan was developed by the Management Committee following meetings and presentations by key people from the City of Onkaparinga.

·   Planning for growth & new communities   

·   Energy use & climate change 

·   Transport

·   Health & wellbeing

·   Water security

Community participation and Aboriginal health and wellbeing are overarching themes within these priorities.   

We will also continue to auspice local community groups and promote the Healthy Cities concept locally and more widely.

 

Role:

1.   Accountability/monitoring – provide an opportunity and mechanism for Council, SAHS and other local services to be accountable to community, and monitor progress on services’ goals and strategic plan implementation.

 

2.   Advocacy – advocate in own right plus provide support for Council, Southern Adelaide Health Service (SAHS) and other local services in their advocacy roles. 

 

3.   Consultation – provide opportunities for Council, SAHS and other local services to undertake consultation with community.

 

4.   Promotion – provide opportunities to promote Healthy Cities and partners’ work and achievements both within Onkaparinga and to a wider State, national and international audience.
