Eat Well Be Active

2009 AGM October 005Nadia Mastersson, Project manager from Eat Well Be Active (ewba) gave a wonderful and inspiring presentation on the progress of the Program.

The eat well be active Community Programs aim to contribute to healthy weight in children, young people (0-18 years) and their families through promoting healthy eating and physical activity. The Programs work in partnership with a variety of sectors such as health, education, welfare, neighbourhoods and food supply by addressing both environmental and individual barriers to healthy eating and physical activity.

The initiatives are based in two communities:

  • Morphett Vale (southern metropolitan SA, population 23,000)
  • Murray Bridge (rural SA, population 18,000)

Funded for $2.6 million over five years by the Government of South Australia, Department of Health, the Programs are implemented by Southern Primary Health of Southern Adelaide Health Service and Murray Mallee Community Health Service of Country Health SA.
